Nintendo is a video game company that was founded in 1889.
It is one of the oldest and most successful video game companies in the world.
Nintendo began as a playing card company, and it wasn’t until the 1970s that they began to produce video games.
Since then, they have created some of the most popular video games ever made, including Mario, The Legend of Zelda, and Pokemon.
In this blog post, we will explore the history of Nintendo and discuss some of their most iconic games!
Nintendo was founded in 1889 by Fusajiro Yamauchi, who opened the “Nintendo Playing Card Company” in Kyoto, Japan. The company mainly produced hanafuda (flower cards) and other card games.
Nintendo’s playing cards quickly became popular with Japanese players.
In the 1950s, Nintendo began to expand its business into other avenues including toy making and cabaret venues.
Throughout this decade they also experimented with various electronic gaming devices such as an electro-mechanical gun game called Duck Hunt which used a light gun and tv screen to simulate shooting at ducks.
It wasn’t until 1977 that Nintendo released their first video game console – the Color TV Game 6.
It was a success and sold over one million units, leading to the release of more consoles such as the Color TV Game 15 and Block Kuzushi.
In 1983, Nintendo released its first major success – the Family Computer (Famicom).
This console was a huge hit in Japan and brought Nintendo into the mainstream.
The Famicom had iconic games such as Super Mario Bros, The Legend of Zelda, and Metroid.
The success of the Famicom led to Nintendo’s next big move – releasing their console internationally.
In 1985 they released the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in North America and Europe – this console became an instant classic with its groundbreaking titles like Super Mario Bros, Duck Hunt, and The Legend of Zelda.
Since then, Nintendo has continued to be one of the most recognizable brands in gaming.
Their consoles such as the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) and Nintendo 64 achieved great success with games like Super Mario Kart, Mario Paint, Donkey Kong Country, and Pokemon Red & Blue.
The GameCube, Wii and Wii U consoles also sold incredibly well with titles such as Animal Crossing: Wild World, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
Nintendo is now preparing to launch a new console – the Nintendo Switch – which promises to bring their iconic franchises back into living rooms around the world.
With so many years of experience under its belt, it’s no surprise that Nintendo continues to be one of the most successful video game companies in the world.
